Job Summary: The Radiology Office Coordinator will be responsible for greeting patients at our facility. Additionally, the Secretary will obtain required personal and insurance information, establish patient accounts, disclose insurance and payment policies, collect payments, prior authorization, locate previous films and generally ensure necessary patient material is complete prior to the examination. The ideal candidate will interact professionally and effectively with patients, referring physicians, and coworkers while maintaining the best possible patient flow at all times. Additional responsibilities include: performing related tasks such as assisting patients, transporting patients, maintaining and ordering supplies and maintaining the cleanliness of work areas.

Duties/ Responsibilities:

  • Answers the telephone and provides assistance to patients or providers to schedule radiologic exams. 
  • Focuses on patient satisfaction by scheduling appointments promptly and courteously. Obtains accurate information and properly documents the patient in the scheduling system. 
  • Provides a high level of customer service to patients coming into the department and ensures they are timely taken back for their scheduled service. 
  • Provides a learning environment and provides exceptional customer service to all.  Friendly, cheerful and helpful to patients and others. Ability to meet patients and others needs while following office policies and procedures in person and on the telephone.
  • Obtaining any necessary prior-authorizations needed prior to scheduling a patient for an exam. 
  • Assisting the technologist with obtaining any prior imaging needed before the day of the exam. 
  • Will work as a team with other imaging departments to coordinate patient care and flow throughout the care environment. 
  • Consistently demonstrates the ability to efficiently perform multiple complex tasks at once. 
  • Obtains consents and authorizations for procedures.
  • Orders supplies and/or equipment. 
  • Transportation of patients and moving patients to a bed or wheelchair. 
  • Assisting technologists with patients during exams, when needed.
  • Participates in upkeep of department, i.e, cleanliness of work area, preventive maintenance, stocking of supplies, reports all malfunctioning equipment.
  • Ability to work in a team environment. 
  • All other duties as assigned
 

Education/Certifications/Licenses

Required

  • Education - High School Diploma/GED Equivalent: General Studies
  • Certification - **Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification - American Heart Association (AHA)(RT) 
    • Willing to obtain upon hire

Experience

  • 3-5 years of clerical and/or customer service experience. 

 Preferred:

  • Experience as a clerical and/or customer service staff in a medical setting.

Physical Requirements: Light work - exerting up to 15 pounds of force occasionally (up to 33% of the time). Requires the ability to work designated shift lengths (including 8 and 12 hours).Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer and standing, bending and moving.
